What are PDO Threads?

PDO threads are a non-surgical treatment that uses biodegradable sutures (made of Polydioxanone, a material safely used in cardiac surgery for decades) to lift and tighten skin that has lost elasticity.

 

There are various types of threads: lifting/barbed threads mechanically lift and reposition sagging tissue, while smooth/mono threads are placed to create a mesh-like scaffolding just under the skin. No. We use local anesthetic to completely numb the treatment area before thread insertion. You may feel a sensation of tugging or pressure, but the process itself should not be painful.

You must avoid strenuous exercise for 1 week and avoid facial massage, dental work, or opening your mouth wide for 3-4 weeks. It is also advised to sleep on your back for the first week to prevent putting pressure on the threads.

Once the initial settling period (1–2 weeks) is over, you should not be able to feel the threads. The material is designed to integrate seamlessly into the skin’s structure.

PDO threads are safely and fully absorbed by the body through a natural process called hydrolysis, typically taking between 4 to 6 months.
